Help Town of York Reach Its Climate Change Goals
Are you interested in making your home more climate-friendly, but not quite sure where to start or what changes to make? The York EcoHOMES initiative can offer you some guidance.
Spearheaded by York Ready for 100%, a citizen-led group dedicated to helping the Town of York reduce its greenhouse gas emissions 50% by 2030, the EcoHOMES program offers participants monthly recommendations of ways to live more sustainably at home. Residential buildings account for more than a quarter of all of York’s emissions, so home-based efforts will be key to reaching the town’s emissions reduction goals.
The monthly recommendations that you’ll receive if you sign up are easy to implement and involve no or low cost. In some cases, they may even save you money. More than 10,000 towns across the country have adopted this initiative to meet their own emissions reduction goals and, in York, nearly 200 households have already signed up.
York Land Trust is helping to spread the word about this program because we think it’s an important effort that stands to genuinely improve the sustainability of our town and community. To learn more about York EcoHOMES, join us on Monday, February 1 at 6pm for an online presentation and Q&A offered by York High School students involved in the initiative.
