YLT’s New 5-Year Strategic Plan

January 25, 2019

After a year of thoughtful conversations and reflection, we have completed our new strategic plan that will guide our efforts over the next five years. The plan incorporates feedback we received through 23 interviews and 117 responses to online surveys. This valuable input helped us determine what the community seeks in York Land Trust and how we can best broaden the positive impact of our work to benefit even more people. We extend our sincere thanks to those who participated and shared their insights.

Within the plan, we focus on five key focus areas: Land Conservation, Stewardship, Community Engagement, Organizational Development and Financial Stability. Some of our efforts will remain consistent with our goals over the last five years. For example, we will continue to protect land in the MtA2C region. But in many ways, the new plan reflects a shift in our focus. Over the last five years, we have acquired more than 700 acres through a series of ambitious projects. We will increase capacity to steward all of our properties and prepare new properties for public access, including our 220-acre Fuller Forest Preserve.

We also plan to step up our community engagement efforts by increasing nature connection programs and forming new partnerships to benefit a more diverse audience, especially under-served members of the community.
