Over the past month, we have been working hard with a tremendous crew of volunteers to build a brand new edible garden at the YLT Headquarters. With our plants now starting to blossom, we’re delighted to welcome you to stop by and enjoy this community space for yourself!
We built this garden as a place to hold public programming on topics like organic food production and composting, and to encourage community members to sit and enjoy the peacefulness of our headquarters. We plan to donate the majority of what we grow to local food access programs such as the York Community Service Association Food Pantry, and will also use some of the crops in the public programs we will hold for all ages.
The construction of this garden was funded by a generous grant from the Nathaniel Wheeler Trust. Eldredge Lumber very kindly provided the seedlings and supported the purchase of garden tools and materials. The whole process of designing, planning, building, and planting the garden was a collaborative community effort amongst a large number of volunteers, and with assistance from the Harvest Design Collective. We extend our sincere gratitude to the individuals whose time and energy made this project possible.
We hope you stop by to enjoy this space over the summer and fall!
