Bird Walk Wednesdays

January 17, 2020

Connecting with nature at a safe social distance

Last summer, we began hosting regular bird walks on our properties as a way to offer in-person programing that felt safe, enjoyable, and conducive to social-distancing. Our Board Member, Debby Ethridge, graciously stepped in to lead these programs with a deep well of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for birding.

Since then, these walks have become quite popular! We have reached more than 40 birders who have cumulatively spotted nearly 30 different bird species. The program now meets on the third Wednesday of each month at Highland Farm Preserve, in partnership with White Pine Programs. To check out an ongoing list of species spotted during these walks, click here.

We are currently limiting registration for Bird Walk Wednesdays to 10 participants to allow for social distancing, but look forward to opening this program up to additional participants when it’s safe to do so! We welcome birders of all ages and experience levels.

We also plan to host additional bird-themed programs in partnership with the York Public Library this spring…stay tuned for more details!
