Summer is a great time to get outside and explore York Land Trust’s Public Preserves. What better way to explore the trails than getting to know the native plants you’ll discover along them! More than just beauty, native plants are essential for providing food and shelter for pollinators and help combat climate change. We have put together a native plant scavenger hunt to help you learn about some common native plants found on our Public Preserves.
Visit these Public Preserves:
- Fuller Forest Preserve
- Highland Farm Preserve
- Smelt Brook Preserve
- Hilton-Winn Preserve
- Near Point Preserve (YLT Headquarters)
- Lafcadio’s Woods
Use the box to record which Preserve(s) you found each native plant. Print the attached PDF or stop by our York Land Trust Headquarters to pick up a copy. Submit your results to info@yorklandtrust.org and receive a complementary packet of wildflower seeds!
Go Botany, iNaturalist, Seek, and Petersons Field Guide are great resources to help you identify native plants on your adventures.
